During 07-08 September 2016, the Second Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment will be conducting “A Long Walk”. This walk will be conducted as a weight loaded tactical combat march back from High Range Training Area to Lavarack Barracks. This march will be approximately 50kms in length and will be conducted to raise much needed funds and awareness for our charity of choice; Mates4Mates.
Mates4Mates is a not-for-profit organisation supporting current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members (and their families) who have physical or psychological wounds, injuries or illnesses as a result of their service.
The Second Battalion has set a goal to raise $50,000 towards this great cause, and we humbly request your assistance in the form of a donation. 100% of your donation will go towards the great work Mates4Mates does for those service men and women that are currently either permanently or temporarily affected, and your donation is fully tax deductible.
In order for us to reach our target we are looking for individuals or businesses to ‘sponsor’ our soldiers participating in this walk by making a donation. Some examples of how your donation can help are on the following page.
On completion of the event we will be holding a presentation ceremony & BBQ within the Second Battalion’s lines. All individuals and business representatives that donate are invited to attend.
I thank you for your consideration and hope to see you at the presentation. If you have any questions about the running of this event or the donation tiers, please feel free to contact Captain Simon Byth on 0410 562 677 or 074411 7193.
